On the solemn occasion of the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, the Pope’s Day Seminar was held at DBTC. The seminar focused on Pope Francis’ apostolic letter “Desiderio Desideravi: On the Liturgical Formation of the People of God.”
The Seminar was organised by the Second-Year students of Theology and Fr. Augustine Justin Arulraj, professor of Liturgy at DBTC, co-ordinated the event. The document’s historical context was presented by Br. Arockia Dass. Br. Clement presented the first twenty-seven articles outlining the connection between the Last Supper and Liturgy. Bro. Kennedy discussed the crucial elements of the liturgical formation, which range from the articles 28 to 65.
Dr. Nellikunnel Moncy SDB, the Executive Secretary to the CCBI Commission for Liturgy and professor of Liturgy at KJC, Bangalore, and the Key Speaker of the day, delivered the keynote address presenting the challenges to our current state of Liturgical Formation in India. Through YouTube Live-streaming, the entire event was broadcast online. There were 295 online viewers. The seminar concluded with a floor discussion. On the whole it was a “fruitful Seminar” – on the liturgical formation of the people of God.
